Old-Fashioned Apple Cobbler

There’s something comforting about a warm apple dessert baking in the oven. This old-fashioned apple cobbler is simple, cozy, and made with everyday pantry staples, perfect for using up a bowl of fresh apples. With tender cinnamon-spiced apples and a golden, buttery topping, it’s the kind of dessert that feels like home.
Old-Fashioned Apple Cobbler
Serves: 6–8

Bake Time: 40–45 minutes
Ingredients
Apple Filling
6–8 medium apples (about 6 cups), peeled, cored, and sliced
(Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Fuji, or a mix work well)¾ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
1 tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp cornstarch (or flour)
1 tsp vanilla extract
Cobbler Topping
1 cup all-purpose flour
⅓ cup granulated sugar
1½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
½ cup milk
6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly butter an 8x8-inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, toss apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, cornstarch, and vanilla. Spread evenly in the baking dish.
In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and melted butter until just combined.
Spoon the batter over the apples (it doesn’t need to cover completely).
Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, until the top is golden and the apples are bubbling.
Cool slightly before serving.
Serving Suggestions
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream
Drizzle with caramel sauce for extra indulgence
